Uniform & Equipment

By dressing in a business like manner and being fully equipped, we feel that we are giving our students the best chance of meeting expectations in the real world.


Our uniform policyapplies to all students equally. Failure to comply with this document couldresult in a sanction as outlined in the academy behaviour policy.


Boys Uniform Girls Uniform
  • Plain black Academy Blazer with Academy logo
  • Plain black Academy Trousers with Academy logo
  • Academy tie (tiedto the correct length so it covers all buttons on the front of the shirt)
  • Plain white formal shirt (tucked in)
  • Plain black shoes (no trainers, no boots. For the avoidance of doubt shoes must be of a polishable material)
  • Plain black socks
  • No jewellery ofany kind other than a wrist watch
  • No extreme hair colours / styles (the decision as to what constitutes extreme rests with the principal)
  • A School bag containing a minimum of pens, pencils, ruler, rubber, pencil case, calculator and the academy issued student planner.
Please note: Students are also permitted to wearthe optional Academy V-Neck jumper with Academy logo
  • Plain black Academy Blazer with Academy logo
  • Plain black knee-length pleated Academy skirt with Academy logo or Plain black Academy Trousers with Academy logo
  • Academy tie (tied to the correct length so it covers all buttons on the front of the shirt)
  • Plain white formal shirt (ticked in)
  • Plain black shoes (no trainers, no boots. For the avoidance of doubt shoes must be of a polishable material)
  • Plain blacktights or Plain black ankle socks (no knee length socks, socks and tights cannot be worn together)
  • No jewellery of any kind other than a wrist watch
  • No extreme hair colours/ styles (the decision as to what is extreme rests with the principal)
  • Minimal hair dressage (plain bobbles and slides only, no additional hair accessories
  • No nail varnish of any kind
  • No fake, acrylic or enhanced nails
  • Discrete make-up only (make up should be unnoticeable, the decision as to what constitutes discrete rests with the principal)
  • A School bag containing a minimum of pens, pencils, ruler, rubber, pencil case, calculator and the academy issued student planner.

Please note: Students are also permitted to wear the optional Academy V-Neck jumper with Academy logo

Having a uniform demonstrates that students are a member of the Academy community. Kearsley Academy has high expectations for how the uniform is worn

  • Blazer is worn at all times (unless at Principal's discretion in warm weather).
  • Jumpers are optional, blazers are not.
    • It is acceptable to wear:
      • A Shirt, jumper and blazer
      • A shirt and blazer
    • It is not acceptable to wear:
      • A shirt and jumper with no blazer
  • Shirt must be tucked in at all times, no rolled up sleeves at any time.
  • Tie fastened correctly covering all buttons of the shirt.
  • Skirt an appropriate length. (knee)

SLT, ELT, Year Group Leaders and Form tutors will check students' uniform as they arrive in the morning. Form tutors along with Year Group Leaders and other staff will check uniform daily during registration. If there is a valid reason for students not having the correct


If your child attends school in incorrect uniform, they will either be asked to correct the issue or will be given correct uniform items from our uniform store for the day.

If a student refuses the reasonable request to correct any uniform issues then a sanction will be applied.

If your child is in Year 7 or Year 9 you might be eligible for financial support towards your uniform. Please follow this link to find out more here.


What equipment will my child need?

For your child to make the most of their time at Kearsley Academy they will need the following:

  • A schoolbag, not a handbag

If your child should find themselves without the correct equipment, the Student Council run an equipment store every morning at the student entrance.
