GCSE Success Story

Students at Kearsley Academy, one of ten secondary Academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust, have achieved their best ever GCSE results.

The Academy has also shown a strong improvement in the number of passes in English and Maths.An amazing 63% students overall achieved a pass in English and Maths, demonstrating an improvement of 21% on last year's results, with 56% of the Year group leaving the Academy with a strong pass in Maths or English.

There were some outstanding individual successes:

Levi Arden achieved 4 x grade 9's, 3 x grade 8's and a Grade 7

Twins Harry and Milly Moxham achieved a combined 5 x Grade 8's and 6 x Grade 7's, and

Abigail Marchant scored 1x Grade 8 and 2 x Grade 7's

Kim McKee, Principal of Kearsley Academy for this cohort of students, thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: "this is a superb set of results for Kearsley Academy and I am absolutely delighted for our students. They have worked so hard to achieve this significant improvement with results that are half as good again as what the academy achieved last year . Some of our students have overcome difficult obstacles to achieve their success. It is the resilience of our students and their commitment to achieve that makes them so proud of all they have accomplished. Our students are highly ambitious and many are now embarking in the next steps of their education and are committed to pursuing their passions. We all wish them the very best!
