Exceptional Genetics in Science

Students in year 8 have produced some exceptional work this week while learning about Genetics in their Science lessons.

Following a series of lessons looking at variation and inheritance the students were challenged to produce their own DNA models.

They had to show the base pairings and double helix structure of the molecule using sweets. I do suspect that not all the sweets ended up in the models. The students also looked at the discovery of DNA and the importance of scientists working together to share information.

The students have loved studying this topic and also produced a collection of excellent home works looking at inherited diseases.
